Advisory board

The Advisory Board is a multidisciplinary team providing support and advise to Magallanes Value Investors AM.

Made by professionals admired for their contributions to the industry, excellent professional careers, strong ethics standards and professional honesty.

The Advisory Board does not have any legal or operational capacity, responsibility or obligations whatsoever regarding Magallanes. It is based upon the voluntary inclusion of its members, who do not receive any remuneration in exchange and/or have a commitment to remain therein.

Fernando del Pino

Private investor. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, he worked at Chemical Bank (later Chase Manhattan Bank) for several years before joining his family’s Family Office until 2004, when he went independent. He has been a member of Ferrovial’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee (1999-2007), to Rafael del Pino Foundation’s Board (2000-2012), and co-founder and chairman at the Madrid Family Business Association (AMEF), where he remains a Board member.

Fernando Gumuzio

Founding partner of Azora Capital. Previously being General Manager at Banco Santander, heading the asset management, private banking and insurance divisions, and member of the Management Committee. Formerly Director at Cortefiel, Zeltia, Caixa Geral, and other firms.

Chairman of the Asyter Foundation and the Resa Foundation.

Mariví Lorente

Managing Partner at IAM Ltd. and General Manager of IAM’s Spanish subsidiary, responsible for business development and manager of the UCITs portfolios.

Over 20 years of investment experience and over 10 in the hedge fund industry. Prior to IAM, she was Managing Partner of the hedge fund asset management area at the N+1 Group (Spain), and Managing Partner at Alpha Value Management LLP (UK). Previously she was Managing Director of International Equity Sales at Santander Investment in London and a Credit and Fixed Income Analyst at Banco Santander New York.

BSc and MSc in Economics and Business Administration from Colegio Universitario de Estudios Financieros CUNEF (Extraordinary Award for the best academic CV in Spain). Master in Finance from New York University and London Business School Investment Management Programme. She is a CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) holder and member of the AIAA (Alternative Investment Analyst Association).

Crispin Odey

Founder of Odey Asset Management and head of Investment Management. He previously managed the Baring European Growth Trust and the Continental European pension funds at Barings Asset Management and Framlington Fund Managers.

Bachelor in History & Economics at Christ Church, Oxford.

Silvia Paternain

Partner at Freshfields and member of the Practice Committee, she also leads the Global Tax Practice of the firm. Through her professional career, she has advised a great number of companies in different sectors and funds. Silvia and her team have a high reputation in the market, and are ranked as Tier 1 by Chambers Global, the leading guide of lawyers.

Emilio Salvador

Bachelor in Law and Master in Taxes at Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICADE (E-3).

He previously worked at Banif. Founder of Grupo Arcalia, in charge of Legal and Compliance. Responsible for Legal Guidance in Bancaja AM, Assistant Director of Business Development participating in the comprehensive management of high net worth clients, the design, execution and monitoring of corporate operations and alternative investments. Founder of Grupo Egeria Activos AM, in charge of Legal and Compliance.

Has been Secretary to the Board of Directors of several listed Spanish companies.

Boris Zhilin

Co-founder and Principal at Armor Capital, he began his career as financial analyst in the Investment Banking division of Bear Stearns in New York.

B.A. in Finance, Managerial Statistics and Economics from Syracuse University.
